Homecoming 2013

My Beloved,

It is with continued excitement that I write this post. Our God has shown Himself faithful in the life of Union since the church's inception and what a time we had this Sunday.  Union celebrated its' 87th Church Anniversary and Homecoming on this past Lord's Day.  The children sang as this was our regular second Sunday Youth Day.  We had a special guest choir, the youth from the Hispanic Church of God in Oklahoma City and Union's youth sung from their hearts giving us a glimpse of heaven by singing "We Worship You" in Espanol.  We are grateful to Pastor Victor Huerra, who prayed in Spanish during alter call, and to all his members who attended.  What an excellent living exposition of the scripture, "And they sung a new song... for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people and nation..." (Revelation 5:9)

The Rev. Nickolas Ellis brought the message home and put the Christological cookies where the kids could reach them by proclaiming, "The Rules of the House" from the Psalms 100.  Rev. Ellis encouraged us by outlining four rules in those five verses of the Psalm.  He exhorted us by making it known noise is a requirement, that we should be ready to serve, to be a recording artist, and finally making it clear this is not about any of us.  And oh, did we enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.

It is always a pleasure to see Saints who are willing to serve! Union was all about serving God and others on this historic 87th.  A very special thank you is in order for all those Unionites who served with a smile in the kitchen, on the usher, on program and even further behind the scenes.  Men may not have seen or acknowledged your service, but God sees and knows all.  God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)  God has your reward and He is faithful to present it on that great day!

The Rev. Ray Douglas, pastor of the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church blessed after their choir set the place ablaze.  There was plenty of fire in the place. Both Holy Ghost fire and literal fire as Union burned its mortgage on this date as well.  No doubt, Union has been delivered from debt and Pastor Douglas told us from the text, "How to Respond to Deliverance" in Mark 5:15-20.  First, Pastor Douglas told Union deliverance pushes us to DESIRE A NEW DIRECTION, then he encouraged us to DEVELOP A DELIVERED DEMEANOR, and finally he closed with a celebratory climax around the ideal that DELIVERANCE DEMANDS DECLARATION.  What a time! What a time!

Union, we have been DELIVERED. Now, let us do our DUTY for this is our reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)

Sincerely yours and securely His,

Pastor Darryl K. Fields
